In this short and simple self-help article, we’ll show you how you can uninstall PIP package that was installed using a pip install command.

Uninstalling a Single Package

Let’s say, you want to uninstall the xgboost PIP Package from your server. All you have to do is, execute the following command:

pip uninstall xgboost

The same command applies to uninstall any package. But make sure you change the package name in the command with the one you want to uninstall.

Alternatively, if you don’t know what exactly the name of the package is, you can always run the following command which will list all installed packages. You can then know what is the package name exactly.

pip list

This works perfectly for uninstalling one or two packages. But what if you want to uninstall all PIP packages on the server?

Uninstalling all PIP packages installed on the server

You can uninstall all PIP packages easily by executing the following command:

pip uninstall -y -r <(pip freeze)

As soon as this command is executed, all PIP packages will be uninstalled from your server.

Hope this short and sweet article on how to uninstall PIP packages was helpful.
