If you look into it, you can find two things similar to one another – Autoresponder and Vacation massages under Email Manager.

Getting to know the differences is crucial. If you already know what it is, skip to the main part. If you don’t, our article might be useful to you -> What is the difference between Autoresponder and Vacation Messages on DirectAdmin?

Vacation Message: Intro

When you are on vacation, and you don’t want to be bothered by the emails received, but you want to let the person know that you’re on your vacation – you can use Vacation messages. It sends an automatic email to the email ID right after receiving the email.

The plus point of using vacation messages are:

  • It stores your email instead of deleting it, so you have an opportunity to view the email even after a few days.
  • It has a Time limit feature. At the end of the time limit, it stops sending the automatic message.

Setting up Vacation Messages:

By following the below steps, one can easily set up a Vacation in just a minute!

  • First, Log into your control panel. If you haven’t or don’t know how to, follow these steps:
    • By using your IP address and hostname:
    • Are you new to the tech world and don’t know what these are? Just use your Domain name in the following:
  • After logging in, head to Email Manager >> Vacation Messages.
  • Click on the Set Vacation Message button. Fill in the the required information.
  1. Vacation account: It refers to the email account from which you want to send the automatic message
  2. Plain text: In the previous versions of DirectAdmin, there used to be a dropdown in this place instead of the checkbox. You can still see the option in the autoresponder feature setup. What it refers to is that if you have selected the plain checkbox, it means you will write the email without formatting the text – bold, italic, heading, etc. So, if you’re going to or want to format the email, leave the box as it is (unchecked).
  3. Subject Prefix: Here, write the subject of your email.
  4. Vacation Start: From which date and time you want to send this email.
  5. Vacation End: Upto which time you want to send this email.
  6. Reply Frequency: It refers to the amount of time the system should wait to send the reply right after receiving the email.
  7. Vacation Message: Here, write the body of your email.
  • Click Create to create and set up a new Vacation Message.
